James Gunn pitched the ‘CREATURE COMMANDOS’ before taking over DC
Story
It follows a group of military superhumans consisting of a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, a Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon.. Gunn then greenlit the project himself when he became CEO of DC Studios. Writer and series creator James Gunn appears in the opening credits with a laptop while typing up the script.
Featured in the cast of AniMat’s crazy cartoon: Return of the King (of the Hill) (2023)
. Following a similar story to The Suicide Squad, we join a ragged team of imprisoned monsters sent on a mission. Positives: *Character-focused.*No need to do homework and watch 50 hours of movies to know what’s going on.
We start with the new DC universe
*The action is decently choreographed and easy to follow. *The animation style is fresh and works well with the story being told. Mixed: -Gunn’s humor often feels forced with outdated references and witty dialogue to the side.
-Not my favorite of the needle strokes given his talent for finding the right feel
Final things: -I didn’t expect a new formula for the superhero genre to emerge, but I’ve seen this type of series many times before. -If you’re here for a little fun without any real stakes, then you’ll enjoy it. -In the era of Spider-verse, Arcane, Blue-eyed Samurai and X-Men 97’s movies, I need more emotional investment and when Episode 2 ended, I didn’t care that the others weren’t available yet.
